Target Audience
State, local, and tribal public health-care workers from western states
who have -- or will have -- leadership, epidemiologic, programmatic,
or data analytic responsibilities in public health programs involving
maternal
and child populations.
Conference Goals
1. To enhance the skills and knowledge of MCH and Epidemiologic public
health workers in the following areas:
- Methodological skills: geographic information systems, data
analysis, computer software, data linkage
- Using Data Sets such as the YRBS, PRAMS, Census, etc
- Using data for needs assessment, program evaluation, and policy
formulation
- Surveillance challenges, particularly for newer MCH programmatic
areas such as violence, oral health, and obesity.
- Emerging MCH issues: disability, birth defects prevention,
health disparities, domestic violence, mental health.
2. To provide a forum for MCH and Epidemiologic public health workers
in western states to share experience, learn from one another, and form
professional relationships that will enhance their effectiveness.
