CEPH Re-Accreditation 2005-06

The Council on Education in Public Health (CEPH) accredits schools and colleges of public health in the United States. As part of the process, CEPH requires that the accredited schools undergo a self-study at the end of a seven-year accreditation period. This self-study is reviewed by an external committee, and this committee determines whether the school should continue to be accredited. The UW School of Public Health is currently undergoing this process.

CEPH has voted to renew their accreditation of the School for another seven year term, ending in 2013.

The Process

December 2005	Review committee informs SPHCM of changes to preliminary self-study they feel are needed. [DONE]
January 1, 2006	Completion of self-study document with changes and updates and submission to review committee. [DONE]
January 14, 2006	Last day to submit written feedback to the accrediting body. [DONE]
February 2006	Site visit by review committee. [DONE]
March 2006	Committee sends SPHCM a draft report of the site visit. [DONE]
May 2006	SPHCM responds to the draft report. [DONE]
June 2006	The full Council on Education in Public Health votes to renew SPHCM's accreditation for seven years, the maximum period allowed (through 2013). [DONE]

Review Committee Draft Report

The Review Committee has completed its draft report to the full CEPH council. The Committee found that the School met or "met with commentary" 22 of 24 review criteria. The remaining two areas were judged "partially met;" and will require a response from the School. This is a positive sign for the School maintaining its accreditation.
